Anna Lopez - Board Director

Anna Lopez was elected to the Pocono Mountain School District Board of Education to represent Region 3 and began her term on the Board on December 8, 2021. She has been a resident of the district for more than 10 years.

Ms. Lopez is married to Hector Lopez and is the mother of five children. Her two older daughters graduated from Pocono Mountain West High School and her two younger children attend district schools. She is also the proud grandmother to three grandchildren.

Ms. Lopez started her career as a human resource director when she discovered her passion was for business analytics, so she went into business for herself for more than 10 years. As a business analyst, she helped drive growth and fuel economic opportunity in business development and logistics with process management. Her efforts generated increased revenue and process efficiency through contracts and project management.

Ms. Lopez has a broad range of experience, having worked in the medical field, financial field and entertainment field. She has even dabbled in the communications retail industry for a few years. 

Her volunteer passion has always been in education and has focused her efforts as follows:

• Advocate for Head Start, Community College access, and early childhood development;
• Member of the coalition for Educational Justice in NYC, a co-founder & lead parent program developer to the lead teacher program that helps close the achievement gaps of students ;
• Advocate for the creation of new school buildings for smaller class sizes in NYC as school board director (PEP) that was in the 30 and up number of students per classroom; and
• Trustee on the BERS Retirement Board in NYC who helped upgrade its communications systems to best meet the needs of its members. 

Ms. Lopez has a Bachelor of Arts Degree, a Master of Science Degree and is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha. She has studied education, economics, political science, philosophy, contract law, leadership, management, and public administration.

She has earned the following certificates:

• Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR 2005 & PHR 2002)
• Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP 2005)  
• Microsoft Mastery (MP 2019)
• Project Management (MCTS 2019)
• Technologist (MT 2019)

Her hobbies and interests include music, especially singing; engineering with her favorites being mechanical and electrical engineering; physics; chemistry with her favorites being organic and bio; outdoor activities such as farming, hiking and preservation; research with a Congressional Library Card; and community support and opportunity development.
